Details
The Riverside at Aymestrey is situated deep in the heart of Herefordshire countryside just on the southern edge of the Mortimer Forest, yet still close to Ludlow and Hereford.
Authentic and atmospheric, the 16th century black and white building is surrounded by the natural beauty of the River Lugg valley. A small and lovely village with lovely people completes the setting.
The bar and restaurant have been deliberately kept in a traditional style – log fires, oak floors, candles, hops and oak beams, bricks and stone. There is plenty of space by the river or in the terrace garden to eat when the weather allows and a wander around our kitchen garden is highly encouraged by Andy! We offer hand pulled real ales from Cleobury Mortimer and Stoke Lacey; with cider from Tenbury Wells and Leominster.
Our room rates are based upon two people sharing and include a full English breakfast and VAT. All bedrooms have en-suite bath and or shower rooms with complimentary Noble Isle toiletries. Our beds have feather and down duvets, crisp white linen, waffle bathrobes and welsh blankets as well as a flat screen TV, free Wi-Fi connection, mini bar, homemade biscuits with fresh ground coffee and tea making facilities for you to enjoy.
Well-behaved and clean dogs are always welcome to stay at The Riverside. There is a charge of £10 per night (please ask if you require water for your dog or a towel if they are wet from a walk!). We do ask however, that they are not left unattended in the rooms and are persuaded not to go on the furniture and bedding! They are welcome to join you when you are dining – we have a couple of dog-friendly dining tables.
Some of our rooms can accommodate additional beds. These are charged at £15 per night B&B for children under 12. Cots are free.
Breakfast is always individually and freshly cooked using local ingredients, including freshly laid eggs from the village which is crucially important for the special recipe, scrambled eggs.
We have quite spectacular walking terrain in North Herefordshire – at The Riverside Inn we have developed 12 very varied circular walks ranging from 3 to 15 miles.
Between them they pass or cross over a glacial gorge, a Bronze Age burial site, an Iron Age fort and a murder site in the woods.
We are also at the mid-point of the Mortimer Trail – a 30 mile walk stretching from Ludlow to Kington for which we have a dinner, bed, breakfast and transport package. This walk takes you over a succession of hills and ridges and rewards you with views of the forests of Radnor, the Black mountains, Clee Hill and the imposing Malvern Hills.
We have a number of step by step guides as well as OS maps for you to borrow when you go exploring.
