Walk 1: Almshouses to Cathedral (1.5 miles)
From ancient almshouses next to perfumed rose gardens this walk takes you on an historical tour of timeworn Hereford. There’s a chequered museum fronted by a huge bull, followed by a charming, thriving indoor market, and narrow streets teeming with quirky shops and places to eat. You’ll pass atmospheric pubs, works of art, and reminders of famous actors, before ending your walk at the magnificent, beautiful Hereford cathedral.
Walk 2: Cathedral to River (1 mile)
From the splendid cathedral, with its unusual spire, this walk heads next to the well-preserved Castle Keep, before descending the unusual Dog Leap Stairs. From the bottom you can marvel at the engineering of the imposing arches of the Tyne Bridge, before approaching the Guildhall, the famous Bessie Surtees House and finally arriving at the impressive waterfront, dominated by four, very different bridges.
