Join us after the screening on Monday 28 January when Hereford Sixth Form College’s Debate Society will be tackling the topic “Society has been desensitized to violence and Utoya is a positive step towards resensitizing us.” Audience involvement is encouraged!

Punishing and immediate, this is an almost real-time experience of the terrorist attack on a student camp on the island of Utøya from the point-of-view of Kaja, an 18-year-old girl, and her friends and summer camp acquaintances. Based on the real story of events on July 22 2011, when more than 500 youths were attacked by an armed, right-wing extremist, who earlier that day had bombed a Government building in Oslo, this is edge-of-the-seat drama that keeps the heart-rate up for a solid 90 minutes as Kaja makes on-the-spot decisions about how to search for her little sister, where to hide and where to run, and if she should try to save the life of a stranger. It’s dark work, but utterly compelling and a reckoning and reminder of the fear that can be incited by fascist terrorism.
