Sat 16 May Deep Roots and Seeds of Hope

Details

We live in increasingly challenging times.
How can we find the resilience and heart to respond in positive ways to what lies ahead?
One possibility is to look to the original wisdom teachings of figures such as Jesus, Mohammad and the Sufi poet Rumi before they were overlaid by what came later. Here we can find timeless insights which helped people work with difficulties then and can also help us now.

As life around us gets more turbulent, we can treat this as an invitation: to deepen our roots and find new strength within ourselves, in our spiritual connection, and in our communities. And as the flow of worrying news continues, we can treat this as an opportunity: to be grateful for the blessings we have, to let our love shine, and to plant seeds of hope.
This day offers a supportive space to explore and reflect on such wisdom using a variety of methods such as walking meditation, body prayer and movement, sound mantras and chants sung in the original languages, group processes and sharing.
In particular we have been inspired by and will draw on the work of Neil Douglas Klotz (Desert Wisdom and other works), Joanna Macy (the Work that Reconnects among others) and Jem Bendell (Deep Adaptation).
We hope to emerge with fresh resources and vision to aid ourselves and our communities.
Alan Heeks: has focussed on future resilience since 2012, working with Jem Bendell since Autumn 2018: nominated by Jem as a Deep Adaptation advocate. Alan has co-led many spiritual retreats, including several on spiritual resilience.
