Artistraw Cidery and Orchard

Artistraw Cidery and Orchard
Golden Apple partner What's this?

Here at Artistraw we make wild fermented natural cider from fruit handpicked from ancient, unsprayed traditional standard orchards which celebrate the terroir of the Welsh Marches. From naturally sparkling, to ancestral method these are beautifully presented wine-like ciders worthy of your finest glassware.

Our popular 'tour and tasting' runs during the Summer months from April- September at our cidery and orchard.

This is your chance to learn all about the work going into creating our museum orchard, the creatures that inhabit it as well as all about how the cider is made. After admiring the amazing view of the Black Mountains at the top of the hill and having a look at the fermentation rooms you will also get to enjoy a small glass of three different ciders, whilst sat in the permaculture garden during which we will personally talk you through how we created them.

The tour and tasting lasts around 1.5 hours.

Any paying adult who arrives for their tour without the use of fossil fuels will be gifted either an Artistraw glass or alternatively a hand printed organic tote bag. We are reachable by foot via the Wye Valley Walk- a beautiful stroll direcly across the fields from Hay on Wye that takes around 40mins.

Our bottle shop is open all year round and is free to visit! Please give us a buzz or drop us an email to arrange an appointment so that we can make sure we are here to welcome you.

Caring For The Planet

Even more than cider is the love we have for our orchards. The traditional orchard we have planted will never be sprayed with agri-chemicals or pesticides and instead be a haven for plants, wildlife and apples. Whilst our orchard is growing we also pick from other local unsprayed, traditional orchards. We keep things as local as possible; none of our orchards are further than 10 miles away. We are the first UK cidery to publish the CO2 emmissions associated with each bottle of cider we make (a figure we have been steadily reducing each year since 2020).
