Saints and Pilgrims - Hereford Cathedral
Hereford Chamber Choir and professional orchestra Central England Camerata Orchestra, directed by Simon Harper, open the annual Friends of Hereford Cathedral Festival weekend with a programme of 20th Century English music including a rare performance of Elgar's The Banner of St. George, and two works by Vaughan Williams in the 150th anniversary of his birth: An Oxford Elegy and Five Mystical Songs, in a new oechestration by Edward Pullin. Also on the programme are Howells' A Hymn for St. Cecilia, and Holst's Hymns from the Rig Veda. The concert will also feature poems by Ursula Vaughan Williams, presented by students of Hereford Cathedral School. This concert will take place in Hereford Cathedral, as part of the Friends of Hereford Cathedral festival weekend. This concert is generously supported by The Vaughan Williams Charitable Trust and the Elgar Society.
