About the Hoard The Herefordshire Hoard is one of the most significant Viking treasures ever discovered in Western Britain. Among the finds recovered so far are a gold arm bangle with an animal head clasp, a crystal pendant in a gold setting, a gold octagonal ring, and a silver ingot.
The hoard’s story is also a legal one—it was uncovered through illegal metal detecting, leading to the UK’s largest-ever police heritage crime investigation. Several individuals received long custodial sentences, and the search for the rest of the hoard continues today.
