Three Choirs Festival - The Black Lake - Hereford
About This Event
The Three Choirs Festival returns for another week of outstanding music for all to enjoy. This concerts brings together the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Three Choirs Festival Chorus, soloist Elizabeth Watts, and narrators Betsan Llywd and Steffan Rhodri (Gavin and Stacey) for a world premiere performance.
Inspired by the great Welsh novel One Moonlit Night, Richard Blackford’s soaring yet poignant work The Black Lake tells the story of a boy’s passage to adulthood whilst growing up in a remote village in North Wales. Blackford’s music captures the beauty, sorrows, elements, and mysteries that surround this community who unite through music and song in times of sadness and joy. For our standout festival commission, prepare to be moved by true musical storytelling and the mystery of the Black Lake...
The concert takes place in Hereford Cathedral from 7.30 - 9.45 pm.
