'Craswall to Clodock': A Pilgrimage Experience in the Golden Valley

Craswall village
Join us on a mini-pilgrimage experience along the Golden Valley Pilgrim Way, an 8-mile linear route through the borderlands of England and Wales. Starting from Craswall Church, set beneath the Cat’s Back ridge, we’ll follow ancient bridleways, green lanes, and historic footpaths that have been walked for over a thousand years—by farmers, traders, parsons, and pilgrims like us. As we walk in the footsteps of those who have come before, we hope to gain a deeper connection with their journey and, in doing so, strengthen our connection with ourselves. Along the way, we’ll visit medieval churches and explore the evocative ruins of Longtown Castle. Just like the famous Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route, this Golden Valley path has a beautiful 'credential' (passport), which can be purchased for £5 and can be stamped at various churches along the way giving you satisfaction, and a memory of your walk, (the ticket price for these walks will also include a donation to the churches that we get the stamps at of £2 per church). Open to All Faiths and None – Welcoming people of all faiths and spiritualities, as well as those who simply want to enjoy a mindful, relaxed walk in nature. Key Details:
- Distance: Roughly 8 miles (linear route with arrangements made nearer the time to return to the start point)
- Starting Point: Craswall Church
- Route Highlights: Ancient bridleways, medieval churches, Longtown Castle, fantastic views
