Down a leafy lane, where steam trains once ran, across a Victorian railway bridge that takes you from Wales to England, you'll find a meadow where sheep graze, and what else, but a traditional-style Shepherds Hut and rustic Shack.  On sunny days, your own private meadow is bathed in light from dawn to dusk, and the babbling Hindwell Brook that bounds it flashes silver. Whatever the weather, after dark is a magical time to be here, when the log burner in the hut, the firepit by the Shack (there' s another by the stream!) and oil lamps and candles cast a flickering soft golden glow. The lovely little market town of Presteigne just over the border in Wales, with its many independent shops, great places to eat, a thriving music and arts scene and the award-winning gas-lit Judge’s Lodgings, is a 15-minute walk away. For walkers, Offa's Dyke Path passes close to Presteigne, while the old railway line footpath leading directly from the Shepherds Hut makes it easy to stride straight out and into nearby Nash Woods without the need for a car. And when the weather is warm you don't even need to leave the field to go wild swimming. Your host, Glenys, provide a generous Welcome Pack using local ingredients home-baked goodies and hearty sourdough bread. Her husband Paul is an award-winning travel writer whose aim is to provide an experience that he as a professional would enjoy and recommend.
