RidgeBank Contemporary Art Space
RidgeBank is a new contemporary art gallery located at no.1 High St in the former 1808 Kington and Radnorshire Bank. The old banking hall has been transformed into a bright exhibition space whilst the original basement vaults offer intimate dark spaces ideal for video or light sensitive work.
Each year we hold three exhibitions during April/May, Aug/Sept and Nov/Dec. Opening times during exhibitions are Weds-Sat 12-5pm. Entry is free.
RidgeBank’s curatorial aims are to reflect ‘the local’ through contemporary art. We do this by actively supporting and promoting local artists whose practices embrace contemporary concepts, materials and processes. The programme of exhibitions and events also embrace local themes. These have included shows celebrating the beauty and mystery of our local landscape. Known as The Centre for Walking, Kington’s extensive footpath network attracts visitors year round to explore nearby Neolithic ceremonial sites, ancient hills of geological significance, the glorious Hergest Ridge and the Offa’s Dyke footpath. All of which have provided inspiration for past exhibitions.
Our current exhibition brings together nine local artists all called Jess! The Jess Collective is a rebelliously joyful show and the perfect antidote. In August and September we will be honouring a rare local flower called the “Radnor Lily”. The artists in this show will be offering their personal perspective upon the Lily, it’s characteristics and location. The works in this show range from watercolours to stone masonry.
