Learn to make your own prints with artist-printmaker Helen Arthur in her stone-built two-storey studio in the stunning Olchon Valley on the edge of the Brecon Beacons. Or you can pop in to view her gallery of local landscape paintings and shop for nature-inspired artwork, greetings cards and notebooks.

Half-day or full day printmaking workshops are open to all, whether you’re a complete beginner or lapsed expert, aged 5 to 105! No drawing skills required. Groups of 5 maximum. Helen supports you through every stage of the process in her well equipped studio. This an ideal creative break experience for the entire family; take home several copies of your own unique artwork ready to frame.

There's local pubs, The Crown nearby or The Bridge in Michaelchurch Escley, if you want to combine your visit with a pub meal. The area also offers excellent walking and wildlife spotting along Offa's Dyke and the Cat's Back, with views across Herefordshire and over to South Wales.

Skirrid Studio & Gallery Recommends

From the doorstep of the studio you can take a 40-minute circular river walk that includes a lovely view of Longtown castle. You'll see some wonderful wild flower meadows and sloe hedges (great for our Christmas gin). But, shhh, don't tell anyone!!!
