About This Event

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk out of Hereford city? Join Sarah Price for a special guided walk exploring Sarah's favourite section of the Golden Valley Pilgrim Way, a 60-mile circular route through the beautiful Herefordshire countryside. The journey begins at Hereford Cathedral, where we'll enjoy a short, half-hour guided introduction to the cathedral's long history and its connections with pilgrims through the centuries. We'll have the opportunity to stamp our pilgrim credentials before setting off on foot, just as countless travellers have done before us. Leaving the city behind, we'll follow the banks of the River Wye before heading into the countryside along ancient footpaths, quiet lanes & farmland. We'll pass Belmont Abbey before continuing to Eaton Bishop, where we'll visit the village church & explore the fascinating Iron Age landscape of Eaton Camp. Our walk finishes in Madley, where we'll visit the impressive Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Although we're following part of the New Golden Valley Pilgrim Way, this isn't a religious pilgrimage. You don't need to be religious, follow a particular faith or have any spiritual motivation to join us. We will be starting our day by meeting in Madley village to catch the bus into Hereford.
