The Metta Trust
Metta Trust, founded in 2013, is dedicated to creating lasting change by developing communities, protecting the environment, and promoting mental and physical well-being. What began as a small initiative to alleviate poverty in a small rural village in Sri Lanka, has grown into a wide network of support for communities across the UK and Sri Lanka.
The charity work is driven by the success of Plantation Villa, a wellness retreat that was first based in Sri Lanka, and funds approximately 95% of the charity's projects through its programs in yoga, mindfulness and Ayurveda. As the vision evolved, Metta Trust sought to address more than just poverty, aiming to teach people how to live happier, more sustainable lives, living in harmony with nature. This led to the opening of a second Plantation Villa in Herefordshire UK in 2022, broadening it's reach and expanding it's mission to assist with the rising of mental health issues in the UK.
Throughout the year we run a number of free/donation-based community events at Plantation Villa Ruxton Farm in Kings Caple, including; an outdoor Summer Lunch Buffet, Christmas Carols in the barn, Wellness Days with talks on yoga, mindfulness and nutrition that includes wellness activities and yoga in the Plantation Villa yoga studio. We also provide volunteering opportunities such as: helping in our veggie garden, gardening/ground maintenance, planting trees, fundraising and more. Volunteers also receive a free vegetarian lunch and a free yoga class! Email info@mettatrust.org to get involved.
