Moth spotting workshops in the orchard

There are over 2,500 different species of moth to be found in the UK, compared to just 59 species of butterfly and we want to find out how many are hidden in the hedgerows and trees of Artistraw Cider! Last year we saw 45 different species- can we beat that total this year?

The Moth Team

Tom and Lydia of Artistraw Cider have been leading moth workshops at UK festivals for around 7 years along with our friend Nova, a trained entomologist. We are all completely obsessed by these stunningly beautiful creatures and can’t wait to share our knowledge with you and introduce you to some of the orchards most intriguing inhabitants.

What to expect on the night

Arrive any time from 8:30pm -we'll have a bar open seving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Sunset is at around 9:30pm and we'd expect moth activity to start in earnest at around 10pm.

We'll have a number of moth books that you'll be able to look through if you want to try and ID some moths for yourself. Leafing through the books whilst out in the field is a great way to start learning the poetic names of these amazing creatures and we'll be on hand for the duration of the evening to talk you all through the moths and answer your questions.

Tickets are limited to 20 people to keep the event small and intimate.
