Rotherwas Together: Factory Football exhibition

Rotherwas Together: Factory Football exhibition

From 1st September until 30th October

The Shell Store

About This Event

An exhibition charting the story of the Rotherwas women's football team will be displayed at the Shell Store alongside a football exhibition produced by Laura Hill which on loan from Sheffield Theatres. A set of hangings produced by local artist Lin Mathias will complement the exhibition.

There is also a permanent small exhibition and film about the Shell Store, which was the largest single span building in Europe when it was constructed at Rotherwas in 1916. The building became derelict and was earmarked for demolition. However, it was saved and today, the building is managed by Town Square and houses the Munitions Cafe, local businesses and conference space. It is an iconic reminder of the work carried out during both wars mainly by women, who answered the call to work in factories across the country.

Visitors can also explore the rest of the Rotherwas site using a permanent trail marked by QR code signs. The trail is fully accessible and there is parking on site from where to begin the trail.
