Vikings at the Priory: Battle on the Grange!

Vikings at the Priory: Battle on the Grange!

From 30th May until 31st May

Leominster

About This Event

Warrior training is daily regime depicted by Regia Anglorum in the living history village set up on the Grange for the weekend. Whilst the women cook, weave and pray, the men hone their military skills in readiness for a skirmish and the chance to win eternal fame. They train with spears, axes, swords, and the blacksmiths create helmets and chain mail.

The narrated battle each day features meticulously researched, hand-crafted swords, shields and weapons, and demonstrates the tactics that made the Vikings formidable opponents.

The Battle re-enactment takes place on the Grange at 3pm on both Saturday 30th May and Sunday 31st May. It will be loud and lusty and the spectators will be expected to encourage the warring parties! Who will you support? The people of Leominster or the invading Vikings?

This event is part of the Vikings at the Priory programme which runs from 27 May to 22 June. Visit: www.prioryarts.org.uk

‘Vikings at the Priory’ is a collaborative project created by Priory Arts with support from Leominster Town Council, the Margaret Allen Foundation and Leominster PCC, with funding provided by Herefordshire Museums & Galleries, The Eveson Trust, The Elmley Foundation, Herefordshire Community Foundation, Our Place Leominster, Rotary Club Leominster
