Hereford
Riverside garden: The riverside garden is a tranquil haven shaped by Roger Parr in the 1920s, with features like the rustic hut, boathouse, and retaining wall still standing today. Wander through wildflower meadows in summer, snowdrop carpets in winter, and daffodil-lined paths in spring. A small woodland at the garden’s edge invites quiet exploration, and the bird hide offers a peaceful spot to watch garden birds.
Walled Garden: Just across the car park, the historic three-sided walled garden once supplied the mansion with fresh produce. Today, it’s a vibrant space with a beautifully restored 70-foot Foster & Pearson glasshouse. Inside, fruit and vegetables thrive, echoing the garden’s productive past.
Parkland: The wider estate includes parkland and farmland, with some areas open to explore via a circular walking route. The trail lead through meadows, orchards and wood pasture, offering panoramic views and a chance to spot wildlife
Family friendly things to see and do: Families can enjoy nature-inspired adventures across the garden and estate. Climb into the secret treehouse, follow seasonal trails like fossil hunts, or explore the riverside paths and walled garden. With plenty of space to roam, picnic spots, and baby-changing facilities, it’s a great day out for all ages.
Wildlife habitat restoration: Thanks to generous National Highways funding, over 65 hectares of land at The Weir have been transformed into priority habitats. New meadows, orchards, woodland and hedgerows are helping wildlife thrive and boosting biodiversity.
