About This Event

They have developed a special walk of 90 - 120 minutes duration around Hereford to mark the Military History Festival. The walk will start at The Town Hall in St Owen’s Street and may include a visit to the city’s Heritage Suite to view the Mourning Sword. You will discover, amongst other things, more about an Anglo Saxon king who is recognised at the Cathedral, a Welsh invasion, the castle at Hereford during the Anarchy (described by John Leland, the 16th Century antiquary as “nearly as large as Windsor and one of the fairest and strongest in all England”), the blowing up of part of the old Wye Bridge during the Civil War, the city’s war memorial and the window to honour the SAS.

The walks will commence at 14.00 at The Town Hall on:- Wednesday 24 th September Friday 26 th September Saturday 27 th September Sunday 28 th September Wednesday 1 st October

If you miss one of these special walks, our walks will be available every day until the end of October. They start from the Cathedral at 11.30 Mondays to Fridays (tickets from the Cathedral shop) and at 14.30 on Sundays (tickets from the Guide – cash only).

Admission / Ticket Info:

The fee is £7.50 per adult and £1 aged 5 and 18, who must be accompanied by an adult. A maximum of 15 people will be accommodated on each walk.
