About This Event

ABC are one of the bands who helped define the sound and style of the early 1980s, launching a new decade of British pop with confidence and ambition. Their debut album The Lexicon of Love (1982) entered the UK charts at No.1 and became a landmark release, featuring timeless hits including The Look of Love, Poison Arrow, Tears Are Not Enough and All of My Heart. Produced by Trevor Horn, it remains widely regarded as one of the greatest British albums of the decade.

ABC evolved with every release, from the raw, hard-edged Beauty Stab to the electronic, club-driven How To Be A Zillionaire!, which delivered multiple Billboard No.1 dance hits in the US. The lush soul of Alphabet City followed, powered by the global hit When Smokey Sings, and cemented the band’s American success with heavy MTV rotation and an appearance on Soul Train. Across the decades, frontman Martin Fry has continued to innovate, blending pop, soul, dance and orchestral influences. In 2009, ABC performed The Lexicon of Love in full at the Royal Albert Hall with a symphony orchestra, launching a hugely successful era of orchestral performances.

Celebrating 40 years of The Lexicon of Love, ABC have since completed multiple sold-out UK and US orchestra tours, proving their music remains as stylish, emotional and relevant as ever.
