This is a step-by-step workshop designed to develop practical understanding and ability in acrylic techniques.
Experience level:
This art workshop is suitable for beginners to improvers as there will be guided instruction throughout. Attendees will be limited to 8 to ensure that everyone will receive individual support.
About the tutor:
The workshop will be led by Sharon Brookes who is the proprietor and lead tutor of Backbury House Retreats. She has a degree in Art, is a practising artist as well as a fully qualified art teacher with nearly 30 years’ experience of teaching in a range of educational settings.
The workshop timings:
The workshop runs from 1pm-4pm. Please arrive for 12:45 for welcome drinks.
Example of the workshop programme:
- Firstly, you will be guided through a series of painting exercises to encourage experimentation in a range of acrylic painting techniques.
- The techniques covered within the workshop will include underpainting, glazing, dry brush, impasto, knife work and scraping back.
- Following the exercises, you will then complete a practice piece where you will apply your new-found knowledge to increase your proficiency in acrylic painting.

What you will need to bring:
You may wish to bring an art apron or overall. For your convenience, we supply all materials and refreshments.
