Alfie Boe, OBE, is one of Britain’s most celebrated and best-loved tenors, admired for his rich, powerful voice and his remarkable ability to cross effortlessly between opera, musical theatre, and popular music.
Born in Fleetwood, Lancashire, Alfie discovered his passion for singing while training as a car mechanic, His natural talent soon led him to study at the Royal College of Music, the National Opera Studio, and finally to the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where he performed and trained with some of the finest voices in the world.
Alfie’s breakthrough came with his portrayal of Rodolfo in Baz Luhrmann’s Broadway production of La Bohème, a performance that earned him a Tony Award. Soon after, his defining role as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables at the 25th Anniversary Concert at London’s O2 Arena in 2010 brought him international acclaim and cemented his reputation as one of the greatest interpreters of the role. He went on to reprise Valjean on Broadway and in the West End to further acclaim.
Since then, Alfie has enjoyed an extraordinary career spanning stage, recording, and television. He has released over a dozen studio albums, several of which have topped the UK charts. His collaborations with Michael Ball — including the record-breaking albums Together, Together Again, and Back Together — have become some of the fastest-selling releases of the decade. Their tours have sold out arenas across the UK, delighting hundreds of thousands of fans.
