About This Event

Join us for an enlightening conversation with Burma Star Memorial Fund Chairman Viscount Slim, descendant of Campaign leader General Sir William Slim along with BSMF Director Mark Cann, they will bring to life not only the strategy and scale of the Burma Campaign but also the extraordinary human stories behind it and why they continue to matter today. BBCs Nick Springate is a frequent visitor to Burma and will reflect on the impact on Burma today. Lucy Betteridge Dyson tells of the remarkable contributions of animals in Burma, how the bravery of soldiers and the loyalty of animals shaped the region’s story. Chaired by Nicholas Soames – Lord Soames of Fletching they discuss what makes a great leader, How does this history reflect what is happening in Burma today? This event offers a unique blend of history and tribute, that brings Burma’s past and present to life and connects Burma today with this extraordinary legacy.

This event is wheelchair accessible. The doors from the rear car parks have 3 steps, but a portable ramp can be laid upon request.

Disabled Facilities:

There are disabled toilets at the reception area. There are also blue badge car parking spaces available at the front of the hotel on a first-come, first-served basis.
