Folk Art Painting with Jane O'Connor
- 12th June
About This Event
Join renowned wagon painter Jane O’Connor for an immersive folk art painting workshop inspired by Gypsy, Roma and Traveller traditions. In this relaxed, hands‑on session, Jane will introduce the distinctive motifs, techniques and visual language of traditional canal and wagon art. Participants will explore colour, pattern and symbolism before creating their own painted piece to take home. No prior experience is needed, and all materials are provided.
The workshop is part of Roots, Research & Representation – A Day of Heritage and Art, a project curated with GRT curators that celebrates how heritage, creativity and lived experience intersect.
Discover more Earlier in the day, you can also join Tales from the History Store (2.30–3.30pm), a behind‑the‑scenes tour revealing objects and stories connected to GRT history in Herefordshire. The two events are designed to complement one another but can be booked separately.
