About This Event

'Cider, liberty & revolution!'

Riots were a feature of the 18th century as people grappled with ideas of fairness and freedom. Find out how cider had a key role to play in ideas of liberty both in Britain and America in the 1760s. Join curators from the Museum of Cider for a talk on the very real role cider played in establishing boundaries at a time of government overreach and taxation. From miners to sailors, John Wilkes to George Washington. Ticket numbers are limited, and online booking is essential. Tickets are £5.00pp. Following the talk we will be offering discounted admission (£3.00pp) to ticket holders who wish to visit the museum and temporary exhibition. This is available upon request on the day and cannot be booked in advance.

Thursday 14th May 2026 at 2pm (arrival from 15 minutes before).

The talk is part of the Herefordshire Histories Festival, which runs between from the 9th to 25th May. The festival is a celebration of Herefordshire’s History. Events are being organised by individuals and groups across the whole of the County, for the benefit of the whole community. You can find out more about the festival via the link: [HEREFORDSHIRE HISTORIES FESTIVAL MAY 2026](https://herefordshirehistories.org/ "https://herefordshirehistories.org/")
