Jazz Club with The Alex Steele / Matt Hopkins Quartet - Ross Corn Exchange

Guitarist, Matt Hopkins, and pianist, Alex Steele, join forces for this brand new quartet. Matt brings into the mix his love of jazz guitarists John Scofield, Pat Metheny and Jim Hall, and Alex brings his love of jazz pianists, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett and Chick Corea. Together, they create something new, inspired by the tradition, and exploring and stretching the boundaries of contemporary modern jazz.

Matt is well-known for his appearances at international jazz festivals, and collaborations in the UK with British pianist, Dave Newton. Alex will be joining us, just back from work with his international quartets in Paris and Rome, and well-known for his collaborations with artists including Jean Toussaint, Tori Freestone, Duncan Eagles, Alex Clarke, Simon Spillett, Karen Sharp, and many more.

Matt and Alex will be joined by wonderful drummer, the inspirational Andy Tween, and inventive and energetic double bassist, Chris Jones.
