Marches Makers Festival
From 2nd May until 4th May
About This Event
A celebration of the work and creativity of a diverse range of artists, makers and performers who live and work in the Welsh Marches.
In addition to our signature exhibition, there are open studios, independent exhibitions, live performances, and events for children and young people throughout the weekend.
This year the theme for the community arm of the Marches Makers Festival is Folk.
Folk culture is all around us, from folk art, music and dancing to heritage arts and crafts. Folk is a link to our shared history, rituals and traditions – a force bringing communities together to celebrate and make sense of our rapidly changing world.
We invite you to join in the traditional rite of welcoming the summer with Maypole dancing. Watch demonstrations by local heritage crafts people, write your own folk tale, and try your hand at learning a new skill. Discover the lost vernacular words of Herefordshire, enjoy the spectacle of Morris dancing, and a great deal more besides.
