Potter's Wheel Weekend Course
From 25th April until 26th April
About This Event
£340 per person.
Spend two creative and awe-inspiring days exploring a myriad of potter's wheel techniques. You'll get to throw, trim, assemble and decorate your pottery to an extremely high spec. Small group sizes ensure plenty of individual attention and personalised learning. Informative demonstrations, a nurturing environment and friendly, positive tuition – our weekenders learn so much and have the best time ever.
On Arrival You are guaranteed a warm welcome from your hosts, celebrated studio potters Sarah Monk and Jon Williams.
Day 1 Is all about the glorious mud as you grapple with lumps of spinning, wet clay. You’ll be treated to demonstrations, an inexhaustible supply of clay and endless opportunities to play and experiment. You’ll sleep well after day one!
Day 2 On day 2 you get to refine and paint your creations made the previous day. Your shapes and vessels will have dried overnight to what’s called ‘leather hard’ state. You’ll then be able to pop them back onto the wheel for trimming and turning. We also show you how to add handles, make foot-rings and apply colour to your wares.
Finishing Up At the close you’ll select your favourite pots to be fired, glazed and posted out to you. Marvel at your creativity and professional finish when your creations land approx. one month later.
