Vikings at the Priory: Anglo-Saxon Calligraphy
- 6th June
About This Event
This calligraphy workshop is delivered by medieval manuscript specialist Pete Furniss, who is also Chairman of Shropshire Scribes. He will show workshop participants how to create the same style of script used in the original Hereford Gospels and how to add authentic decorative patterns. Participants will be making a bookmark to take home. All materials will be provided.
Also on display in the exhibition inside the Priory is a new, hand-made book The Hereford Gospels for Today, which is starting its public tour in the diocese at Leominster. This book is filled with modern calligraphy and artistic responses to the Gospels in word and art created by children and adults.
This event is part of the Vikings at the Priory programme which runs from 27 May to 22 June. Visit: www.prioryarts.org.uk
