Vikings at the Priory: Beowulf, and the Dragon’s Hoard, The Legend of Our Hoard
- 14th June
About This Event
Leominster Morris, puppeteer Andrew Purvin and the Priory Arts Players present the old tale of Beowulf plus a new drama about the Herefordshire Hoard.
This unique performance will feature the beautiful puppetry of Andrew Purvin, bringing to life part of the famous tale of Beowulf and the dragon, told in Old English (Anglo Saxon) with a poetic modern English translation. The story explores courage, good versus evil, loyalty, generosity, the heroic code, and the meaning of life's real treasure.
This will be followed by a performance in drama, song and dance about a new interpretation of the Hereford Hoard, and its possible connection to Leominster Priory. Leominster Morris will feature in unfamiliar ways! Suitable for all ages, but beware of some shocking moments.
This event is part of the Vikings at the Priory programme which runs from 27 May to 22 June. Visit: www.prioryarts.org.uk
