About This Event

Mr Richard Walsh, and Mrs Elizabeth Walsh present the evidence concerning early medieval music-making, including the texts that tell us about singing and instruments.

The audience will get to see and hear examples of reproduction period instruments, which for the Viking era meant the lyre, the lure, flutes and panpipes. Drums were also used in religious services, and to beat the rhythm for rowers in the longships.

This event is part of the Vikings at the Priory programme which runs from 27 May to 22 June. Visit: www.prioryarts.org.uk
