Vikings at the Priory: Heirs of the Vikings
- 21st June
About This Event
A free concert with a Scandinavian theme, featuring pieces from three particular composers: Buxtehude was a 17th century Danish composer and renowned organist in a Baroque style, widely reputed to be a source of inspiration for Bach. Arvo Part is an Estonian composer of contemporary classical music whose style alludes to medieval practices and sounds. Sibelius is firmly linked to the epic history of the Vikings through works based on Nordic mythology and the Kalevala, the national epic of Finland.
The concert is performed by Border Voices and Baroque Strings.
This event is part of the Vikings at the Priory programme which runs from 27 May to 22 June. Visit: www.prioryarts.org.uk
