Creative Book Binding with Sara Kulman
About This Event
Paper has been integral to Sara in both her creative and professional life. Captivated by the way it can be manipulated cut, and folded. Her passion for objects constructed from paper and card started as a child when a neighbour introduced her to the world of paper sculpture. Sara studied Graphic Design and went on to work at The British Library as a paper conservator.
Join Sara at our Ledbury Showroom to step into the world of paper to explore the art of bookbinding and craft something truly unique. Taking inspiration from the colours, patterns, and intricate weaving techniques of the rugs and runners in the Roger Oates Design Showroom, join us for a hands-on workshop, where you’ll learn to create your own beautifully bound journal or sketchbook, using the ancient Coptic stitch. With its exposed spine and ability to lay completely flat when open, this traditional technique is both functional and visually striking.
Perfect for beginners and creative enthusiasts, this workshop offers a relaxed and inspiring environment to explore the art of bookbinding and craft something truly unique.
At the end of the workshop you will be able to take home both the skills you have acquired and the book you have produced.
