Castle House Restaurant has won many awards over the years. Head Chef, Gabor Katona's menus are seasonal, essentially British cooking with some international fusion. We are proud that most of our vegetables, fruit, herbs, salads and flowers are grown in our Ballingham Hall farm's extensive kitchen garden, and our herd of Herefords provides pedigree meat -  a true Farm to Fork story here. Herefordshire has a wealth of artisan producers, most of whom have long-held and established relationships with Castle House.

Our Menus include breakfast, lunchtime lite bite, traditional afternoon tea now served from 12pm, and a fine dining à la carte in the evening.  Although culinary dictates swing for and against them, we continue to offer our five-course Tasting Menu, as it is extremely popular with diners and hotel guests alike.

Over 2020/21, the restaurant kitchen has been completely updated with new, state of the art equipment and, importantly, more room for Gabor to bake his signature sourdough breads, breads and pastries.

As soon as we're 'unlocked' and have the Government's roadmap, we will update with more exciting news for 2021!

Caring For The Planet

Castle House's has 2 energy efficient boilers. The Restaurant kitchen uses Target’s Carbon Trust accredited induction hobs, electric planchers, salamander grill; the induction system limits the amount of air con/extraction and eliminates the need to burn gas constantly. We use LEDs throughout,  recycle paper, cardboard, glass and continue to reduce single-use plastic.Our farm kitchen garden grows vegetables, fruits, herbs/salads and rears pedigree meat for the restaurant’s menus and flowers for the tables and hotel. All our suppliers are trusted, mainly local producers and artisans.
