About This Event

Hereford Cathedral’s Cloisters are nestled behind the main cathedral building and feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Once home to the Vicars Choral, the Cloisters have been a source of inspiration for centuries, and now we are inviting individuals to come and explore their own creativity in this tranquil and beautiful space.

Open to creative professionals, amateurs and complete beginners, the Creative Cloisters sessions will give people the chance to create their own poem or capture photography with the support of a volunteer.

Poetry:

Using extracts from existing poems as a starting point, visitors can wander through the Cloisters, writing their own pieces of poetry.

The session will start with an opportunity to visit the Old Chapel and view a short video telling the story of the Cloisters. A volunteer will then provide each visitor with a series of prompts inspired by poetry written in or about the Cloisters of Hereford Cathedral over many centuries.

All visitors will be given their own writing materials (but feel free to bring your own if you prefer), so you can take your poetry with you, or carry on at home.

Admission / Ticket Info:

Tickets cost £5. Advance booking is essential via the website.

Disabled Access:

Cloisters are easily accessible for wheelchairs. Canon's Garden has some areas with sloping lawns, gravel paths and a few steps but more accessible routes throughout the gardens can be suggested. If you require a carer's ticket or further details on accessibility, contact events@herefordcathedral.org
