About This Event

We welcome Allison Neal, a talented artist and teacher for many years.  Allison has taught at every level, from leisure watercolour classes to MA in Fine Art.  Her last post was course leader for BA in Fine Art but she left teaching to complete a PhD in contemporary drawing practice and to finally be able to devote more time to her own work.

Allison says, "I use a wide range of materials and processes, depending on the ideas I’m working with and the size I’m working at. I think that Watercolours are a lovely, immediate medium, especially for working directly in the landscape. Though they look easy, and unthreatening, watercolours are one of the most difficult mediums to master. Brushes, paper and quality of paints all matter very much.

Oils and acrylics are far more forgiving, but watercolours can make the most subtle and beautiful of painted surfaces."

In this workshop we’ll look at and work with brushes, paper and paints as well as exploring techniques that will allow us to develop our ideas in this most luscious of mediums.
